P&O Ferries

P&O Ferries

P&O Ferries is a travel company that offers cross channel ferry crossings from England to the Continent and also from England to Ireland. Their cross channel routes are: Hull, England to Rotterdam, Holland (also Germany), Hull, England to Zeebrugge, Belgium, Dover, England to Calais, France and Portsmouth, England to Bilbao, Spain. Their other routes are Troon to Larne, Caimryan to Larne and Liverpool to Dublin. The inner-UK routes are done by P&O Irish Sea, as opposed to P&O Ferries.

They have the largest fleet of ships that offer a wide range of services, the most comprehensive route network and the most frequent passenger and cargo services to the Continent. P&O Ferries won the award for “Best Sea Crossing Operator for Groups” from Group Travel Awards 2008.

On their website, they offer ferry quotes where you can pick your travel dates, route and number of passengers and get price quotes. They also offer information on a variety of subjects, including good travel deals, minicruises, travel insurance and hotels. They have a good reputation of their onboard activities, including if you have to spend overnight in a cabin, shows, food, and shopping. There are even casino games onboard for added fun to your trip. For family fun, there are arcades and bingo. You can also bring your pet along on non-overnight trips, but they must be kept in the car if you have one onboard, or in a container if you are a foot passenger.

You can buy season tickets if you are a frequent ferry traveler, which will save a large amount of money for a person who uses the ferry routes all the time. There are themed minicruises available for anyone looking for a unique trip. Examples of a themed minicruise offered by P&O Ferries is the Bilbao Comedy Minicruise, the Bilbao Jazz Minicruise, the Bilbao Christmas Minicruise and the Bilbao New Year Minicruise.

P&O Ferries currently has 17 ships operating, 4 of which are freight only. There are several discontinued routes and former ships. It is a constituent company of DP World, which took over its parent company the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company in March 2006.
