Egypt is a country located in North Africa. It includes such land features as the Sinai Peninsula which forms a land bridge that crosses to Asia. Egypt covers more than a million kilometers and borders the countries of Sudan, Libya, Israel, and the Gaza Strip. The northern coast of Egypt borders the Mediterranean Sea, while the east coast borders the Red Sea.
Egypt is known as the most populous country in both Africa and the Middle East. There are about 75 million people in the country, and most of them live near the banks of the Nile River, the most important land area in all of the country because of its arable agricultural land. Anything outside of the Nile region belongs to the Sahara Desert, where few people live. Half of all the residents of Egypt live in city settings and major metro areas of Cairo, Alexandria, and other cities along the Nile Delta.
Like the ancient Greeks and the Roman Empire, Egypt has a long history that include the ancient Egyptian civilization. This gives tourists a reason to visit the country because there are so many monuments built by this ancient civilization that still stand intact today. Some of these historically significant places are the Great Sphinx, the Giza pyramid complex, and the Karnak Temple.
Culture is important in Egypt. The country is known to be the most political as wellas the most cultural country in all of the Middle East. The country’s history goes back about 5000 years, so they have proven themselves in presented one of the oldest and most complex cultures in all of history. This culture was the one to influence many Middle Eastern and European countries.
After the rule of the Pharaohs, Egypt was then influenced by Hellenism, Christianity, and Islamic traditions. The ancient culture is still in a way prevalent in many of the interactions of new elements, including the western culture that is beginning to dominate in Egypt.
Cairo is the country’s capital, and is the largest city in Africa. It has been known for many centuries to be the center of culture, commerce, and learning in the region. It has the highest number of Nobel Laureates in the Arab World and many politicians were born and raised in Cairo as well. Cairo was the center of the country’s activity in ancient times, which tells a lot about the art and architecture that came from this city and is still coming from this city.
