Located to the west of the Atlantic Ocean, just right to the east of the Caribbean Sea, Barbados is an independent island, pretty much close to paradise heaven. It was formally a British colony and today is a very well known tourist stop with many attractions, sunny beaches and rich in culture. The island’s ecosystem embarks from spectacular interior and coastal scenarios as well as marvelous flora and fauna; nature lovers will feel just right in the gardens, jungles and forests the island has to offer.
The people at Barbados, or Barbadians, like everyone else in the Caribbean, are very nice and friendly, some think they are somewhat Americanized but it is understandable since they live a mix of British and American cultures in their everyday lives. Unique festivals from jazz to opera, fish festivals and historical celebrations are celebrated throughout the whole year.
What is the main reason to visit Barbados? Relax and fun in the sun; go kayaking, parasailing, snorkeling, bounce on the banana boat, or just walk around the beach and choose which activity attracts you more. Remember that June – November is Hurricane season in the Caribbean and anything can surprise your vacation, although this time is great for perfect low price deals. Around mid December, the weather gets somewhat cooler with blowing breeze to complement a daiquiri on the platinum sand or a massage on the beach. Around April, warm weather is back until August.
Barbados is an exciting place to discover new adventures, go on a walking sightseeing tour around the island, experience a safari in a 4x4 jeep, go on a cruise or submarine to explore shipwrecks and marine life. There is much to explore on this small island, from historic homes and buildings that tell a story, to mysterious underground caves that will surprise you. Renting a car is something you might want to consider for a closer look to the marvelous landscape and scenery you can stumble on.
Every night of the week, the Barbados nightlife lights up with music from different shows and live entertainment from DJ’s, steel band, calypso, rock and reggae or dance clubs filled with locals and tourists. St Lawrence Gap and Bridgetown offer the best nightlife for the lively happening places, while the West Coast has more relaxed settings for the quieter crowd or a couple celebrating their honeymoon with wine bars and jazz music.
