Algarve Holidays

Algarve is one of the most visited locations in Portugal, located in the south and recognized as the unique promise of a modern Portugal. This is a fast-developed region thanks to European inversions and tourism from all over the world. Algarve is especially characterized for having sun all year long, 3,000 hours of bright sun, this is why it attracts more foreign visitors than any other part of Portugal, the peacefulness, quiet and tranquility it brings is perfect for any type of vacation while feeling in a part Mediterranean part North African universe.

There is always something to do for everyone, famous beaches, fishing ports, golf courses, zoo, sport areas and aquatic sports services, among other attractions like roman ruins and big churches. Portugal is famous for its wine, and fruit plantation. Getting around Algarve might be otherwise considered as either going east or west of Faro, the international entrance of the region of Algarve, the capital and monumental center. It is best known for its museums on its west side, the touristy zone and the ruins and ancient buildings on the east side.

Some of the best town and market beaches are Quinta do Lago, Vale de Lobo, Quarteira, Vilamoura, Loulé and the favorite Albufeira; with Praia da Oura and Olhos de Agua as the preferred beaches for tourists since there are not many residences around them. Jump on a taxi or local bus to get from one beach to another since walking from the town center can take you 25 minutes. Going back to land, Laos and Sagres are very important historic cities with the past’s memories like the ruins from the first slave market in Europe, although they are not proud of it, it is a moment that defined history. Sagres is well known for its windsurfing in its wide variety of beautiful beaches.

The Algarve is a year round destination while having the best climate in all of Portugal, the best time to go is winter (December – march) since the sun will be waiting for you and it is a more inexpensive season while summer (june – September) is the most crowded time of the year. Silves Beer Festival is a ten day drinking spree that takes place in early july.

The richness of history and culture goes beyond Algarve’s marvelous sand coast. Experiencing a walking tour, going sightseeing and enjoying the nightlife are “musts” on your Algarve adventure.
